A Fall To Remember

His First Car

<back> - <-next->

    As close as I can remember the year was 1966 to 1967.  This young 16 year old boy had just finished a course in self taught auto renovation 101.  He received a brand new, (well to him,) 1952 Plymouth flathead 6, 4 door sedan from his grandfather, who found the car abandoned in a field.

After submitting the paperwork, receiving the license, a fixit ticket for taillights, brakes, and just being young and stupid by a CHP officer on Highway 32-Nord Avenue  he endeavored to  make the battle hardened vehicle into a road worthy carriage.

Well, he had to replace the starter, generator, regulator, headlights, taillights, taillight lenses, the head liner, Hone the wheel cylinders and master cylinder.

And after a few trial runs he realized that if you traveled over 35-40 miles per hour that it was like sailing a tugboat through rough seas.  It would boat on down the road.
